Biography

Jane was born in Spokane, Washington, and moved to Minneapolis and then Walker, Mn. After graduation in 1928 from Walker High School as Valedictorian, Jane moved in with her Uncle Arthur in Minneapolis and then moved in with her parents and began working for Northwestern National Life Insurance as a clerk. At age 29 she moved out with her mother and brother Arthur.

Jane went to Des Moines, Iowa to have a baby delivered by Dr. Eugene McCaffry (who did his internship in Minneapolis, two miles away from the Broughtons) in 1943. She quit Northwestern National Life Insurance where she worked as a clerk, and then worked since 1946 for American Hardware Mutual Insurance as a keypunch operator and then underwriter clerk. and In 1965, she moved to St Louis Park, Minnesota to a small house. She retired in 1975. She is buried in Vernon Cemetery, Elk River, Minneapolis.
