Biography

Mary Brown was born on 30 Nov 1862 in Parr, Lancashire. She was the daughter of James Brown and Martha (Mercer or Edden) Brown. She was christened on 1 Mar 1863 at St Michael's Church in Burtonwood, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was given as miner, and the family's address as Parr.

Mary married James Welding on 10 Sep 1887 at St Elphin's Church in Warrington, Lancashire. James was 32 and a labourer; Mary was 24; both lived in Winwick Street, and neither had been married before. Their fathers were named as Henry Welding (labourer) and James Brown (labourer). The witnesses were Henry Welding and Elizabeth Welding.

Their daughter Margaret Ellen Welding was born in about 1889 in Parr, St Helens, Lancashire.

Their son Harry Welding was born in about 1893 in St Helens.

Mary died in 1893 in St Helens, aged 31; her death was registered in the last quarter of the year, in Prescot district.
