Died, June 19th, 1899, Andrew C. Brown, aged about 80 years. The deceased connected himself with the A. R. P. church at Long Cane during the pastorate of Rev. W. H. Hemphill, D. D., and at the time of his death was one of the venerated fathers of the church, only two other members being older than he. He was married in 1851 to Miss Sallie McComb Young, by whom he had six children, three of whom survive him. During the Civil War he served in Company G., 14th Regiment, S. C. V., McGowan's Brigade, Army of Northern Virginia. After much service in the field he was captured and kept in prison thirteen months in the state of Delaware.
