Biography

Mary was born in 1783. Mary Brown ... [1]

Mary Jane Brown is recorded as having come to the colonies via the vessel "Shipley" in order "to join her sister, Mrs Richard Dalton". This was the Shipley's 2nd voyage, which left England on 18 July 1818 and arrived in Port Jackson on 18 November 1818.
As the Daltons were neighbours with the Gordon family (as well as the Wilsons and Carlisles (all had neighbouring land grants)), it would have been easy for Mary Jane to meet Charles Molston Gordon in a social way.
Mary Jane Brown married Charles Molston Gordon on the 28th April 1821, in Central Tablelands, New South Wales. [2]

Mary Jane Gordon née Brown passed away on the 30th April1859, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, aged 76 years. [3]

This is my several-greats grandmother's SISTER.

Their parents were William BROWN and Mary DEW. I can't link you to Sarah Dalton nee Brown's page, because I cannot edit such things, but this makes me very happy.  :)

(edited 15th October to add Sarah (Brown) Dalton, sister to Mary Jane (Brown) Gordon. I know it says "Unknown", but she's NOT unknown to me and to others. (end edit))

(Sarah BROWN, was sister to Mary Jane (who came to the Colony to "join her sister, Mrs Richard DALTON"). Richard and his wife and children came free on the same ship as Charles Molston GORDON's father Thomas.)

Mary Jane's death certificate cane be found in the NSW BDM records at 502/1859, father WILLIAM, mother MARY, district SYDNEY. NSW Births, Deaths and Marriages search

The information I had here has been moved to a comment on Mary Jane's daughter Hephzibah's page.
