Biography

Sukey Brown was born about 1739 in St Andrews, Brunswick, Virginia.[1] She was the daughter of Richard Brown and Anne Colwell. She most likely passed away before 1839.

Susannah Brown married William Thurman on 18 Jul 1781 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, USA.[2]

Research Notes

This Susannah (Sukey) (Brown) Thurman was linked as a daughter of Richard Brown (Brown-45944) of Brunswick Co., VA, and Anne (Colwell) Brown (Colwell-541).
Richard Brown of Brunswick Co., VA, wasn’t married to Anne Colwell. He was married to Frances (Sexton-582) before 4 Nov 1735. He was still married to Frances when he wrote his will c. 16 Feb 1773, Brunswick Co., VA. Frances died in 1781, Brunswick Co., VA, with her will naming the same children as in Richard Brown’s will.
Richard Brown’s will and Frances Brown’s will both name daughter Sukey, but she is named as Sukey Butt in Richard’s will and as Sukey Butt or Britt in Frances’ will.
I’ve removed Richard Brown of Brunswick Co., VA, as this Susannah (Brown) Thurman’s father.
