Biography

Jane was born about 1820 in Tennessee, probably in Davidson Co. Circumstantial evidence indicates that her parents were Edward Brown and Sally Bandy; but this cannot be proven at this time, and is subject to change if evidence warrants.

1834: April 28, married Hezekiah Lambert in Davidson Co., Tennessee.

1835: February 22, birth of eldest son James Edward in Wilson Co., Tennessee.

1836: (approx.) birth of son T in Tennessee.

1839: (approx.) birth of son William in Tennessee.

1840: family not found in the census.

1843: (approx.) birth of son Marion in Kentucky.

1846: March, birth of son Epison in Kentucky. Possibly named for Jane's grandmother.

1848: April 19, birth of first daughter Victoria Jane in Kentucky.

1850: living in Calloway Co., Kentucky. She is listed as being unable to read or write.

(approx.) birth of son Robert in Kentucky.

1851: Jane dies in Johnson Co., Illinois, shortly after they moved there. Her burial place has not been located.

STATE OF TENNESSEE, DAVIDSON COUNTY - ss. To any regular Minister of the Gospel, having the care of souls, or any Justice of the Peace: These are to authorize you, or either of you, to solemnize the Rites of Matrimony between Hezekiah Lambert and Jane Brown of your County, agreeably to the direction of an Act of Assembly in such case made and provided: Provided always, that the said Jane Brown be an actual resident in this County, -- otherwise, these shall be null and void, and shall not be accounted any license or authority to you, or either of you, for the purpose aforesaid, more than though the same had never been prayed or granted, &c. Given at the Clerk's Office of said County Court, this 28th day of April, 1834. Test., Henry Ewing, Clerk of Davidson County Court.
