Theirs was the first marriage to take place in the new First Presbyterian Church of Winston.

William Pollard died unexpectedly of an infection in 1900, leaving Margaret with five young children. She remained head of household from the 1900 through the 1940 census, but was close to her sisters and brothers, all of whom were also living in Winston-Salem during this period.

William and Margaret are buried in the Pollard plot in Salem CemeteryWinston-Salem, NC. [1]
