Biography

James Brown was born 3 June 1744 in Lexington, Middlesex Co, MA, son of James Brown and Jane (Bowman) Brown.[1] He died 22 Jan 1749/50 in Lexington, age 5.[2]

  1. According to Lexington, Massachusetts, Record of Births, Marriages, and Deaths (Record of Births, page 11), the date of birth is 3 June 1744 (baptized 10 June 1744), but History of the Town of Lexington (page 28) gives the date of birth as 3 Jan 1744. Cutter (Vol. IV, page 1809) has 26 Nov.
  2. According to gravestone: James Brown at Find A Grave: Memorial #16880388
    Lexington, Massachusetts, Record of Births, Marriages, and Deaths (Record of Deaths page 168), and History of the Town of Lexington (page 28), both list the date as just 22 Jan 1749, evidently an Old Style date.
