Mrs. Brown ( Mary Ann) spoke of her son, Oliver as among the most promising of her children, gifted with a thoughtful character and great intellegence.
Oliver died in great pain from wounds received during the raid on Harper's Ferry on October 18,1859. He was hastily buried along the banks of the Shenandoah River. His remains were reburied in North Elba NY in 1899
