Mrs. Brown ( Mary Ann) spoke of her son, Oliver as among the most promising of her children, gifted with a thoughtful character and great intellegence.

Oliver died in great pain from wounds received during the raid on Harper's Ferry[1] on October 18,1859. He was hastily buried along the banks of the Shenandoah River. His remains were reburied in North Elba NY in 1899
