Thomas Frederick Brown was born on 26 December 1852 in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia, the son of Hannah Brown (nee Arnett) and Thomas Brown.[1]

It was believed that he invented scrabble and the idea was taken from him. He was also believed to have invented "Marveer" furniture polish.
Thomas was a billiard table maker and a salesman.
