Richard Brown, 64, of Caney, Kansas, formerly of Pascagoula, Mississippi, passed away November 10, 2014, at his home in Caney. Richard Derrell Brown was born December 30, 1949, in McComb, Mississippi, the 2nd of two children to Emmett Allen Brown and Annie Dora (Sanders) Brown. The family moved to Garnett Kansas when he was 11, and Richard graduated high school from Garnett High School. He attended junior college in Iola Kansas. He enjoyed ham radio, guns, and teaching gun safety. He worked for the American Red Cross in many disasters, natural and man-made, coast-to-coast, to include Ground Zero of 9/11 New York City in 2001. He was a member of Sons of American Legion, Post 105, Bartlesville, OK, where he served as Commander, and Bartlesville Ham Radio Club serving as President. To say that Richard Brown loved to help others would be an understatement. He was much-loved and will be missed by all those whom he has helped and known over the years.
