Mary Brown was born around 1733 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of James Brown. She married John Briggs in Pennsylvania around 1764 (note that their first child, Jane, was born in Pennsylvania around 1767).
Mary's father James Brown, in his 1768 will, left money and land to "my son John Briggs [and] mary his wife" and made John Briggs co-executor of the estate along with Alexander Castles (see profile of James Brown).
Mary died in Ohio in 1806 and is buried in Duncan Falls Cemetery in Muskingum County, Ohio.
