Veteran US Marine Corps and Alabama National Guard, Alumni of Jacksonville State University (Jacksonville, AL), Alumni of Austin High School in Decatur, AL, Researching Brown, Penwell, Looney, Houston, Stanley, Allen, Gregory, Briley, and associated families from the North Alabama area. Family roots in the US start in Virginia, North Carolina, & Georgia in 1700's.

My name is Derek Brown & I am from north Alabama (family roots in & around Lawrence & Morgan Counties in Alabama). My primary research is the military history of my ancestors. I am descendant of William Brown of Georgia, a gold miner in the mid 1800's who migrated to Alabama, the Stanley family of North Carolina, the Houston family of Tennessee, the Allen family of Georgia, & the Penwell family of Alabama. My grandparents on my father's side were RP & Viola Penwell Brown & on my mother's side my grandparents were Clarence & Allene Stanley Houston. I am a veteran of the US Marine Corps & Alabama National Guard. If anyone can help me with information on the Brown, Looney, Penwell, Stanley, Houston, Allen, or Gregory families of north Alabama, I would be very grateful. Semper Fi, Derek Brown
