Biography

Famous award winning actress who had a stage debut at the age of 5 and continued acting into the 1970's and 1980's.

Her parents were Catherine Estelle/Essie (Hayes) Brown and Francis van Arnum Brown. She married once, to playwright Charles MacArthur, in 1928 and remained married to him until his death in 1956. They had two children. The first was born to Charles and Helen, named Mary, born in 1930 and died in 1949 from polio. Their second child was adopted, and named James. James MacArthur was born in 1937 and died in 2010 and was famous for the role of "Danno" in the 1970's Hawaii Five-O Television series.
