Working to show complete information on Martha Eaton ( 19 Sep 1630 ), daughter of William Eaton and Martha Jerkins: Martha married twice and had children by both husbands.
First husband of Martha, Richard Oldham, settled in Cambridge, MA about 1650. He married Martha Eaton, had two sons, Sameul and John. Richard and Martha moved to Brighton (now West Boston) purchased 90 acres and he died their 9 Dec 1655.
Widow Martha, married Thomas Brown (Browne) 7 Oct 1656. Thomas purchased the estate of Richard Oldmam and Martha and Thomas went on to have six children: Mary (died young), Mehitabel. Mary (again),Ebenezer, Ichabod, and Martha.
Work in progress: 17 Dec 2016. Children will be posted.
Many secondary sources have Thomas married twice, first to "Bridget" and second to Martha (EATON) OLDHAM, however, please note that both Torrey and Savage (see below) consider them two different men, as I believe they have to be two men because 1) Thomas Brown, husband of Bridget, Thomas BROWN, husband of Bridget, died in 1688 and our subject signed his will in 1690; 2) Bridget didn't die until 1681, yet our subject married Martha in 1656; and 3) our subject's will mentions only Martha's children, not Bridget's.
