Charles Brown was born in 1800, the son of Charles and Agnes (Cameron) Brown. His father was a Loyalist from Londonderry Ireland who emigrated first to New York, then to Halifax during the Revolution, and to Shelburne afterward. His mother was Agnes (Cameron) Robertson, the daughter of Hugh Cameron of Inverness Scotland, and widow of Captain Peter Robertson, who also emigrated to Shelburne[1].

On January 10, 1828, Charles Brown 2nd married Abigail Churchill, daughter of Lemuel Churchill, and settled in Argyle[1]. Their children included:

  1. Mary, born November 29, 1828, who married Gabriel Trefry son of Benjamin on December 8, 1846 and who died on December 13, 1891[1] in Michigan[2]
  2. Agnes, born July 7, 1830, who married Nathaniel WW Hogg on December 16, 1849[1] [3], and who died in 1912[4]
  3. William V, born July 7, 1833, who married Sarah Murray, daughter of PF Murray of Wilmot on August 2, 1856, and then married Emma Wyman daughter of Russell Wyman on April 3, 1865[1] [5] [6]
  4. Amial R, born October 1, 1849, who married Elizabeth Fletcher[1] [7]
  5. Lydia, born June 25, 1851, who married James T. Currier, son of William Currier of Yarmouth[1] [8]

Charles Brown 2nd died in 5 Dec 1866, and is buried in Chebogue Cemetery in Rockville, Yarmouth, NS[9]
