Born 24 Oct 1845 Licking County, Ohio, USA.

12 Jan 1846 Francis M. Brown is baptized at Presbyterian Church, Martinsburg, Knox, Ohio.[1]

ABT 1852 Francis and his family move to Wheatland, Bureau County, Illinois.

1860 Francis and his family are living on a farm in Macon Township, Bureau County, Illinois now.[3] His brother Thomas wife and his three children are living with them as well. There is also an adult male staying with the family, I assume him to a laborer. In comparison they didn't have much possessions.

1870 Francis (here listed with his second name Marion, which it seems he prefered to use as an adult) is listed as a painter in Galva Township, Henry County, Illinois.[5] He and his wife Charlotte have one boy. Francis parents are living next door. There is no entry for personal or real estate and all the adults (even the ones from his parents family) can't write or read. If this record is correct, I assume the Brown family to be lower class at this point.

  • Brown Charlotte (female, white, 22 years, keeping house, born in Illinois, can't write or read)
