Mary was born about 1798. According to http://www.genealogy.com/forum/surnames/topics/tryon/649/ her father was an Empire Loyalist named John Brown, and she is recorded in those censuses where she appears as born in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick, and her children consistently gave her birthplace as Nova Scotia. It is unknown when she married William Tryon, but at his death in 1834 they had between 8 and 10 children. She then married Jeremiah Lovelace (Lovliss, Loveless). Again according to the web site already mentioned, her age changes (she gets younger) as the censuses progress, which makes it difficult to pinpoint her actual birth. Several girls named Mary Brown were born in Nova Scotia during the period from 1790 to 1800.
Though Mary's second husband, Jeremiah Loveless, has several birth dates in the various censuses, they center around 1817. On that basis, it appears he died on 16 Nov 1900 in Lennox and Addington, Ontario, Canada, of old age.[1]
Her father, John Brown, is reported to have been from Kingston and died in Ernestown 9 Sep 1829 at age 76. That conflicts with William's death in 1834 while working on John Brown's house. Polly's land grant petition of 1842 has him alive near 90. In this same petition she is 48 years old, i.e., born 1794 [1].
