Sarah was born in 1695 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. She is one of the older children of Thomas Brown and his wife Christian. She was married to Daniel McDaniel by 1715. On July 19th of that year, the newly wedded couple are given a deed of gift.

In 1718, Sarah's mother Christian Brown conveys land to Andrew Ross of Nansemond County, in the Beaver Dam Swamp that is adjacent to Daniel McDaniel.

Their child James McDaniel is mentioned in his grandfather Thomas Brown's will of April 18, 1718.

{Daniel Mackdaniel (Mcdaniel) Was a Jacobite and was captured in 1715 at preston, he choose tobe sent to the American Plantations for his punishement,he was sent on the ship scipco:} The Daniel McDaniel that married Sarah Brown is not this Jacobite prisoner. The Battle of Preston happened in November 1715 and Sarah was already married to Daniel McDaniel in North Carolina
