He married Mollie Vaughn[4][5] in Virgiania where their first children were born but they moved to Tennessee around 1836[6][5] where they had more children.
The 1840, [1], 1850, [2] and 1860[3] census records all seem to point to a birth in 1804. That the mother would have been 44 years old is not a problem but this date conflicts with family records that show Walker as the second child and, therefore, older than the third child, John, who was born in Sep 1789 placing Walker's birth before 1789. However, census records for Benjamin indicate that he was older than John so one is inclined to discredit the birth order in the family records.
Walker apparently followed his brother Nimrod to Tennessee.[6] Walker remained but Nimrod moved on to Texas in 1854.
The 1840 census[1] shows 'E Vaughn' living nearby and one wonders whether this was a relative of his wife.
The 1860 census[3] shows a 'Thomas Doggett' family living nearby as well as a 'A Cox' family. Walker's mother was a /DOGGETT/ and his nephew John Marshall Brown had married a Sarah Cox. As Sarah was from Missouri, it seems safe to say this is just a coincidence of surnames. As for Thomas Doggett, further inspection might show a relationship.
There are seven known children of Walker and Mary. There might have been more.
