Jeremiah Robert was born in October 1858 or 1859 in Carlisle, England to John Brown and Alice Sharpe. Robert came to Canada about 1884 and was married to Mary Annie Wilson. They settled in Summerland, British Columbia in 1902, and on Trout Creek Canyon Ranch in 1903. He was an orchardist. [1] J.R. helped start the first school. He served on Summerland's first council (1908). He was also the Agent for Indian Affairs. [2]
He passed away 11 May 1926 in Summerland and was buried in Peach Orchard Cemetery. [3]
