I spent my early years in Liberty, New York, living with my parents at 67 Webster Avenue, where we occupied an apartment in a four apartment house owned by my maternal grandparents. I attended Liberty public schools through 10th grade, graduating in 1959 from Lawrenceville School, Lawrenceville, NJ. I graduated from Hamilton College, Clinton, NY in 1963, and received an MBA from Columbia University in New York City in 1964.
I served in the US Army from November 1964 until September 1967, with Basic Training at Fort Gordon, GA, and assignment to the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, HI where I was a personnel management specialist. I received a direct commission as a 2nd lieutenant in the Finance Corps, and following training at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, I was assigned to Fort Belvoir, VA, where I managed sections of the post data processing center.
While in this capacity, I married my first wife, Lois Jeanne Forman, of Babylon, Long Island, NY. We resided in Arlington, VA.
My first job after the Army was with McDonnell-Douglas Automation Company in Falls Church, VA, where I was a Senior Programmer. After a year I joined Booz Allen and Hamilton as a Consultant for a short time, and then became the Systems Supervisor at American Metal Climax, Inc (AMAX) in New York City, where we had moved.
During this time, Lois and I divorced with no children.
In 1973 I joined First National City Bank (now Citibank) as an "Agent of Change". In 1974 I married Judith Sherman, who was an Assistant Vice President at First Boston Corporation in New York City.
In 1977 our only child, Sydney Elizabeth Sherman Brown, was born. Around this time I became active in the Episcopal Church (our parish was St. James on Madison Avenue) and in genealogy. I joined and became active in the Society of Colonial Wars (on my Gorton ancestry), and the Saint Nicholas Society (on my Furman ancestry).
In 1999 I retired from Citibank and joined my wife living in what was then our second home on Between the Lakes Road in Salisbury, CT. There I founded my retirement business, Between the Lakes Group, LLC. We republish local history and genealogy in digital form.

You are now a confirmed member, and you can get started adding your family members. As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. So, we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use it. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree.
Tomorrow, you'll hear from a Mentor who will check in to see how you're doing and answer any questions you might have.
Next week, you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.
You can also meet some of our members by joining in the fun with our Question of the Week in the G2G forum: Do you have a favorite photo of an ancestor?
See you in the branches, Cindy
Welcome to WikiTree! Be sure to take a look at the link in the email you just got. It has important information to help you get started. :-)
WikiTree is different than other genealogy websites because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team!
Confirm your email address, and youll be given an opportunity to fill in the Tags and comments to tell us about your genealogical interests. If you are interested in sharing your research and want to collaborate to add your family, please fill out the Tags on your profile page and click Save Tag(s) and Volunteer.
Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will confirm your membership, and you'll be able to add your family to the tree!
Thanks, Cindy
