John Donald Brown was born 30 OCT 1882 at North Cotton, Kintore to James Brown and Jane Donald. In the 1891 census, John D, age 8, is with his parents and siblings James 17, William 15, Alexander W 11, Charles 6, Isabella S 3, Alfred N 4, and three servants (AgnesPetrie, Geo Robertson and Baxter Pirie) at North Cotton in Kintore.

In the 1901 census, Cotton Farm, Kintore, John, now age 18, is with his parents and siblings Alexander 21, Charles 16, Alfred 14, Isabella 13 and his aunt Mary Brown. John Donald, a 24 year old Farmer, married Catherine Abel, also age 24, from East Leylodge, Kintore, on 19 Dec 1906 at The Station Hotel in Kintore. Witnesses were Agnes Abel and Alfred Noble Brown.

In the 1911 census, John, a Wood Merchant, is at the next farm (South Cotton) over from his family (North Cotton) with his wife Catherine. John and Catherine had at least two children- Catherine Fraser Brown b 1911 and Jane Donald Brown b 1915.

John died 14 Apr 1951, age 68, at North Cotton in Kintore. He died of Myocarditis with Auricular Fibrillation which he had for 3 years. He also had Venous Thrombosis and Arterio Sclerosis (1 month). His brother Charles D Brown from Ivybank was the death informant.
