Elijah Brown was born about 1784. He married Bethshua Sheffield.

Elijah acquired his farm in Orleans County, New York, from the Holland Land Company in 1804. The following year, at the age of fifty-seven, he started with his family from Sodus, Wayne County, NY. During the journey he died on Lake Ontario, May 7, 1805. His remains were buried in a plot now known as the Brown Cemetery, in Carlton, Orleans County. [1] [2]
