Grandma also worked as a volunteer for the Oregon Historical Society in Oregon City Oregon. She loved history and looking into our past to see whom if anyone, we were related to. One day our grade school went as a field trip to the Historical Society, as we were going from room to room hearing the history of John McLaughlin, I recognized my grandma and went under the velvet ropes. My teacher was yelling at me and grabbing at me to come back. She was completely shocked to watch me wrap myself around the lady giving the talk. The teacher was apologizing to her for my behavior. Grandma laughed and said, "Well, there's no need to apologize, this here's my 'Honey Pot'." She gave me a hug and sent me back to my class and told me to pay attention so I could teach a class with her the next summer.
