If Martha Gray was William Browne's widow and had married William Murphy by July of 1720, her "father", Richard Gray would identify her as Martha Murphy in his 1724 will. Richard Gray doesn't, but interestingly Martha Braswell's father, Richard Braswell the 1st does.

This memorial indicates that mother was Mary Boddie and that his wife was Martha Gray. It also links John Brown(e) born June 25, 1700, in Isle of Wight County, Virginia as his son.

Other family trees indicate that John is a son of William (Williams) Brown, born 1672, in Isle of Wight and Jane Meriwether. I am not sure that this profile should be linked to Jane Meriwether.
