Biography
Sarah was born in 1843. She is the daughter of Cyrus Brown and Elizabeth Babcock. She married 1863, Allen Barber, they moved to Hartford, Conn. after their marriage until 1865; moved to Galesburg, Ill. till 1872; moved again to Lincoln, Neb. where they purchased 240 acres of valuable land within the city limits. At Havelock, Neb., two miles from their residence, the Burlington R.R. located their locomotive shops, employing over 600 men, with a monthly pay-roll of $30,000. Mr Barber was a farmer and stock-raiser, assisted by his son.
