Marjorie was born before 1920.
A 'war-time' romance developed for Daunton with Marjorie Brown. Before Daunton headed off to Papua in August 1942, Marjorie became pregnant. Ray was born in May 1943, by which time Daunton was back from Papua and his Unit re-training. His next tour of duty took him back to New Guinea, to the Ramu Valley and Finisterre Mountains, from August 1943 to March '44. Marjorie and Daunton married in 1944 whilst he was on leave later in the year. Daunton was then off to Balikpapan in June 1945, one of the final battles of the war. Leslie was born during this final absence. The Battalion returned to Australia on 14 February 1946 and Daunton's discharge (or de-mobilisation, as it was called officially) was actioned the same day.
She passed away in July 1994.
