GOOD WOMAN DEAD Mrs. Mary Jane Adams, widow of the late Wesley Adams and mother of Magistrate John M. Adams died a victim of apoplexy at Vine Grove, Ky. last Tuesday. The remains were brought to Louisville for burial. Mrs. Adams was seventy-six years of age and was a devout Catholic and a charitable woman.
She leaves the following children; Magistrate John M. Adams, Robert N. Adams with the Stewart Dry Goods Company, Frank G. Adams Corresponding Secretary Mackin Council, Y. M. I., and Miss Lizzie Adams.
Her death came as a shock to her children and many friends. The old lady had been in excellent health and only a few days before her death left her home in Louisville to visit relatives at Vine Grove where she was stricken. The remains were brought to Louisville and taken to the family residence 2141 Rowan Street. The funeral took place from St. Cecilia’s church at 9 o’clock Thursday. The Interment was in St. Louis cemetery.

I am looking for information on William, Thomas or James DOWDALL/DOWDELL of Hardin Co., KY area. William Dowdall married Mary Burcham there in 1805 and believe either Thomas or James to be his father.
Believe children of William and Mary (Burcham) Dowdall to be: James, Silas, David, Sarah (married Wililam Viers), Elizabeth (married Franklin Triplett) and Rebecca (married Washington Moore).
Would appreciate any information on this family.

Looking for information on BURCHAM family of Hardin Co., KY. Mary "Polly" Burcham married William Dowdall there in 1805. David Burcham was Mary's father but mother is unknown.
Believe sibllings of Mary Burcham Dowdall to be David Burcham, Henry Burcham, Eleanor HAYS, and Cassandra CARR.

DOWDALL; CRIST; LAYTON; GRAYSON
This Indenture made this ninth day of March 1805 between James DOWDALL of Bullitt County and Henry CRIST of the same place and both of the State of Kentucky Witnesseth that the said James DOWDALL for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars currency to me in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargain and sell to the said Henry CRIST a certain tract or parcell of land containing five hundred acres by survey lying and being in Bullitt County and on the south side of Salt River entered in the name of Thomas DOWDALL but patented in James DOWDALLS name.
Beginning at a Black walnut Hickory two Hoopashes and live Elm trees on the bank of Salt River at the mouth of a draw and on the upper side thereof thence up the River with it’s meander three hundred and twelve poles to this large Beech tree standing on the Bank of the River and at the lower side of a draw at the fording of the River thence south two hundred and fifty two poles to live Black Wallnuts and twelve hoops thence west two hundred and ninety poles to a stake in a marked line. Thence North three hundred and seventeen poles to the Beginning.
To have and to hold the said Tract of land with all its appertenances thereunto belonging to the said Henry CRIST him his heirs & assigns forever to there only proper use & benefit and the said James DOWDALL doth hereby covenant and agree that he will forever warrant and defend the before mentioned tract of land from himself and his heirs and from the heirs of Thomas DOWDALL decd and from all manner of persons claiming by them or under them but from no others unto the before mentioned CRIST his heirs or assigns. Whereas In Testimony I have hereunto set my hand and seal this day and yare first above written 1805
