Elizabeth's grave inscription shows 1870 as her birth year.[1] Other official records confirm her birth date as June, 1870.[2] Through her life, her birth date was reported as abt. 1867 to perhaps as late as 1873. Without a birth certificate, her birth date cannot be confirmed and is further complicated by the presence of an unrelated Elizabeth H. Brown (b.1867) who was living in Buffalo, NY in 1892 at the same time Elizabeth Brown was working as a dress maker with two of her sisters.[3]
In 1881, Elizabeth Brown is living with her family in Thorah, Ontario.[4]
