- Orrin's and Laura's birth and death dates from Newport NY cemetery records, provided by Hazel Patrick, librarian of Herkimer Co. Historical Society, Feb 1983. The tall obelisk gravestone for Orrin and Laura Brown, behind the church in Newport NY, says he was 74 years, 8 months, and 11 days at death. Surrogate Court petition dated 22 Feb 1872, Herkimer Co. NY, gives Orrin's death date and names of all children, including names of their spouses. 1850 Federal census, Herkimer Co. NY, Reel #512, page 169, provided children's names and ages, except for Anna and Benjamin, who had already left home.
