Biography

Rebecca Browne was born c.1725 in Monmouth County, New Jersey.[1]
She may have married Jeremiah Burnett in 1746, after the possible death of his first wife.[1] The evidence, however, is not convincing:
Name Jeremiah Bennett
Event Type Marriage
Event Date 27 Jan 1746
Event Place Burlington, Burlington, New Jersey, United States
Gender Male
Marital Status Married
Birthplace of Little Egg Harbour
Spouse's Name Rebecca Brown
Spouse's Gender Female
Spouse's Birthplace of Little Egg Harbour[2]
Rebecca and Jeremiah possibly had two to seven children.
Rebecca Browne Burnett died in Virginia in 1796.[1]

Research Notes

There is no evidence that Jeremiah Burnett who has been disproven as a son of John Burnett II and Amy Gatewood even existed let alone married someone in New Jersey. John Burnett II's father along with Amy Gatewood's father both came from England and settled in Essex County VA. None of them ever were in New Jersey. There are at least 15 different YDNA lines of Burnetts in the US that don't have a common ancestor for 10's of thousands of years. The Jeremiah Burnett that Rebecca Browne married most likely came from one of the other YDNA lines of Burnetts. This is a link to the Burnett YDNA project. [1]

Find a Grave is not a primary source and is based on June Bork's disproven books. In the image file you will find a research paper called The Truth about Jeremiah which shows the Jeremiah who was supposedly the husband of this Rebecca didn't even exist
