Biography

John Browne was born in 1711 in Shadoxhurst, Ashford Borough, Kent, England. His parents were William Browne (1677 - 1751) and Elizabeth (Coulter) Browne (1679 - 1732).

At the age of 29 John married Elizabeth (Clover) Browne (1718 - 1750).

Their 3 children were:

  1. Elizabeth (Browne) Woodgate (1743 - 1803)
  2. Anne (Browne) Watts (1745 - 1821)
  3. John Brown (1748 - 1829)

John died on Saturday 29 December 1770 at the age of 59, in Shadoxhurst, Ashford Borough, Kent, England.

"25. ? Mildred the wife of John BROWNE who died May 6 1750 aged ?32 who left issue one son and two daughters viz John, Elizabeth and Ann. John Browne died December the 29 1770? aged 59 years. Elizabeth wife of John Browne buried 11 May 1750 John Brown buried 5 January 1771." [1]

Research notes

According to the Shadoxhurst Church monumental inscription, the three children may have been born to (first wife?) named Mildred. If this is the case then the mother needs to be changed over - presumably Elizabeth is the second wife?
