Biography

David was born in 1695. He was the son of William Browne and Catherine Williams.

David Brown was born March 17, 1695 (1694/1695 Julian/Gregorian years) in the source "A Brief Account of the Family of Lt. Richard Browne, of Southold, on the Island of Nassau, or Long Island, N. Y.", published in the New York Genealogical and Biographical Record Volume 31 - New York, N.Y., page 168 in July 1900 edition. His father, William, was born June 23, 1659 in Southold, and his mother was named Catherine and died September 20, 1739 (page 69, April 1900 edition of that same publication). The Will of David Brown, "dated 15 Sept., 1756, sworn to 12 Oct., the same year, was proved 3 Jan., 1757. (Liber 20, p. 179, N. Y. City Wills)", shows that David Brown died between October 12, 1756 and January 3, 1757, most likely at the end of December 1756. That same source shows a 1st marriage to Damaris ________, who died June 9, 1730, and a 2nd marriage to Elizabeth Simmons, on December 10, 1730. He names his wife, Elizabeth, his brother Thomas Brown, and eight children and a daughter-in-law in his will: daughters Mary Luce and Isabel Bishop, his deceased son, Nathaniel, sons David, Walter, Obadiah, and 4th son Reuben Brown, and Mary, widow of his deceased son, Peter. The earlier life sketch is listed below. When David Brown was born on March 17, 1694, in Southold, New York, his father, William, was 34 and his mother, Catherine, was 31. He married Elizabeth Simmons on December 10, 1730, in his hometown. They had seven children in 14 years. He died on April 15, 1756, in his hometown, at the age of 62.

He passed away after 1756.
