Biography

Edward John Browne was born in about 1857 in Liverpool, Lancashire, England, ^[1] son of John Richardson Browne ^[2] and Mary Clarke. ^[3]

In 1861, he was with his parents and 3 siblings in Liverpool. His father was a merchant seaman. ^[4]

In 1871 he was with his parents and 4 siblings in Everton, Lancashire. ^[1]

He married Emmeline Ratcliffe on 7 March 1880 at St Simon's church, Liverpool. ^[2]

Research Notes

• I have just found a possible death record, West Derby Sept qtr 1919 Edward John Browne aged 62 which agrees with birth about 1856 and is the only record which fits. There is also an Edward John Browne born and died West Derby Dec qtr 1891 aged 0 which is a possible addition to the family but never mentioned as far as I am aware. Copy death certificate for a child is always sad reading, Edward John Browne male aged 19 days son of Edward John Browne Master Photographer at 43 Smollett Street. Now the informant was Elizabeth Jones present at death 94 Roscommon Street, Everton. This details adds to the family and would not have been known without a copy of the certificate.

On the 1891 census Edward is at 43 Smollett Street, the address of the death of their only son.
