Biography

Church of Ireland Clergy

Charlton was the son of Edward Browne and Mary Jenkins.

He is said to have graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1786, but he does not appear in the Alumni Register,

On 10 September 1796, he was licensed to the curacy of Rincurran, Cork, at £50, and held that post in 1828. He obtained letters dimissory to Cloyne for Priest's orders on 11 November 1796; and was accordingly admitted to Priest's orders at Cloyne on 13 November 1796. From 1818 to 1826 he was Vicar Drinagh, Cork; and from 1826 to his death on 5 December 1836, was Vicar Kilmaccabee.

He died in 1836.

Dec 3, at an advanced age, at his lodgings in Cork where he had arrived enroute to Bath, the Rev Charlton Brown, Rector of Kilmaccabea, in the Diocess of Ross.
