Herman Montague Browning was born June 1896[1] at, Bradford County, Pennsylvania, USA.[2] He appeared on the census of 25 June 1900 in the household of his parents, William T. Browning and Nellie May (Allis) Browning, at Rome, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.[1] He appeared on the census of 18 April 1910 in the household of his parents at Rome, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.[3] He began military service in the US Army on 29 Dec. 1917 at Fort Slocum, New York, USA. He served overseas from July 9, 1918 to June 26, 1919 and ended military service on 5 July 1919.[2]
He married Hazel Jane Baxter, daughter of Hiram L. Baxter and Fannie Eliza (Wheeler) Baxter, on 12 April 1921 at Vestal, Broome County, New York.[4]
He was a breeder of black foxes when he and Hazel appeared on the census of 1 June 1925 at Spencer, Tioga County, New York.[5] He was a farmer with a silver fox farm when he and Hazel appeared on the census of 30 April 1930 at Henderson, Jefferson County, New York.[6]
