John Brownlow was born about 1598 to John Brownlow and his wife Emelin in Nottinghamshire. He was described as “my third sonne John Brownley” in his father’s will of 1626.[1] He was still living in 1639 when his mother died.[2]
Research Notes
His birth year is estimated based on the birth years of his siblings and his being the third son. As with most of the Brownlow family prior to 1800, his name is often found as Brownley or variations.
