According to Keith, Andrew was sometimes known as "Flatwood Andrew" and he lived near Wikel, West Virginia.[1]
There is some confusion as to whether he is the son of Solomon or of Zacharias. Both men had sons named Andrew, and they both lived in Monroe Co., Va. (now West Va.). However, this Andrew named sons for his brother Thompson, and his father Solomon. The other Andrew named a son Zacharias. Therefore, there can be little doubt as to the assignment.
There are several ideas as to Andrew's birth date. His cemetery entry says 1 Jul 1815[2] , but this is incompatible with brother Thompson's supposed birth early in 1816. The 1900 census says it was August of 1813 which does agree well with the census records over the years.
