Donald Bruce was named as the father of Alexander Bruce on his 1803 baptism record.
Donald Bruce was born in Caithness, Scotland, about 1771.
Donald Bruce was living in "Brae Hungy" (Braehungie), in the parish of Latheron, Caithness, when he married Christina Forbes in Latheron on 15 March 1796.[1]
Donald Bruce was identified as the father of Walter Bruce who was born about 1823 and baptised in Watten, Caithness, on 20 January 1823.[2]
In 1841, Donald was living his wife Christina and children William, Donald, Isabella, Christina and Walter in Munsary in the parish of Watten, Caithness. Also living in the household was Helen Campbell (a servant); Robert Bruce a servant (and possible relative); James Bruce (a servant and possible relative); and William Owman (a servant). Donald's trade was "farmer".[3]
Circumstantial evidence strongly implies that Donald Bruce is the father of these men who were both born in Latheron and baptised in Braehungie (the place of residence of Donald Bruce when he first married Christina Forbes) and who were also living in Munsary during the time of the 1841 and 1851 Scotland Censuses:-
In addition, David Bruce, born 1769, army pensioner, was likely Donald's brother.
