Elizabeth Bruce was born about 1853 in Auchterless, Aberdeenshire. 
In 1861 she was living with her father David Bruce and (step) mother Isabella (Fraser) Bruce and 3 brothers and 1 sister: David (6), Alexander (4), William (2) and Isabella (10 months).
Elizabeth had a son, James Milne, born on 27 April 1870 in Lonmay. His father was John Mackie Milne. Both parents signed the birth registration. 
On 05 January 1880, Elizabeth (24) married George Crawford (24). Her parents were David Bruce, Crofter and Elizabeth Bruce (ms Wright), Deceased. Elizabeth Wright must have been the first wife of David Bruce.
On the 1891 Census, George (37) and Elizabeth (38) were living in Fraserburgh. Also on this Census are their 6 children: George (10), Alexander (9), William (6), Barbara (4), John (2) and Charles (11 months). 
Elizabeth (47) and George (47) appear on the 1901 Census in Fraserburgh along with their children: Alexander (19), John (12), Charles (10) and Archibald (7). 
In 1911 George (58) and Elizabeth (57) have only 2 of their children living at home: Charles (21) was a Bottler in a brewery, and Archibald (17) was a Baker. 
In June 1911, Elizabeth and George along with their sons Archibald and Charles sailed from Glasgow on the ship "Scotian" to start a new life in Canada.
