Biography

Lewis was born on 25 March 1829 to John Bruce-Pryce and Sarah Bruce-Pryce.
Lewis was baptised^[1][2][3]just under one year later on 8 March 1830 in the parish of St John, Aberdare, Glamorgan, Wales, United Kingdom. At the time of the ceremony the family were residing in Duffryn, Glamorgan and his father John Bruce-Pryce is noted as an Esquire.

Lewis married^[4][5]Emilia Sullivan on 4 July 1855 in the parish church, Llantrithyd, Glamorgan. At the time of the ceremony Lewis resided in St Nicholas, Duffryn, Glamorgan and his wife resided in Llantrithyd. Lewis, his father John Bruce-Pryce and his father in law John Sullivan are all notes as Esquires. The marriage was registered^[6][7]during the third quarter of 1855 in the district of Cardiff, Glamorgan.

The April 1881 census^[8][9]shows Lewis, with his wife Emilia, daughters Emilia, Evelyn, a Scholar, Jane and Ethel, a Scholar, sons Lewis and Gerald, a Scholar, visitor and widow, Elizabeth Dicks, a Nurse and servants Catherine Edwards, a Cook, Elizabeth Howard, a Housemaid, Jane Dyer, a Parlour Maid and Mary Phillips, a Schoolroom Maid, living at^[10]Manor House, St. Nicholas, Glamorgan. Lewis is noted as having no occupation.

Lewis passed away aged fifty four on 15 November 1883 and was registered^[11][12][13]during the fourth quarter of 1883 in the district of Bath, Somerset, England, United Kingdom.At the time of his passing Lewis resided at The Manor House, St Nicholas.
Lewis was laid to rest^[14]a few days later.
His probate^[15][16]was administered at Llandaff, Glamorgan and completed 29 January 1884, resworn in May 1884 and August 1884detailing effects of £1,341 18s 11d, £1,391 18s 11d and £1,466 16s 9d respectively to one of the executors Trevor Tyler of Exeter, Devon, England, a Major with the Royal Artillery.
