ELIZABETH BRUCE was indicted for stealing, on the 3d of January , three linen table-cloths, value 15 s. two aprons, value 5 s. the property of Francis Hayward . GUILTY . to be transported for seven years . Tried by the first Middlesex Jury before Mr. Justice WILSON.
She arrived in Sydney in Lady Penrhyn on 26 January 1788 (First Fleet). Here she married John Anderson. Later she was transferred to Norfolk Island where she cohabited with Francis Flexmore.
Elizabeth went to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) by City of Edinburgh on 3 September 1808 as the wife of Francis Flexmore. Her five children all born on Norfolk Island, three by John Anderson and two by Francis Flexmore accompanied her. In 1813 Francis Flexmore had grants at Crayfish Point and 50 acres at Sandy Bay. Other lands were acquired and purchased at Green Ponds (Kempton), where they lived till both died. Francis Flexmore died on 21 May 1835 at Kempton followed shortly after by Elizabeth Bruce Anderson Flexmore on 14 June 1835 at Kempton. Both were buried in the grave yard of St Mary’s Church, Kempton Tasmania.
