Biography
Mary was born in 1834, the daughter of Alexander Bruce (1800-1881) and Margaret Fenton (1800-1882).
With her parent she departed with her parents and brother David, from Port of Leith, Midlothian, on 29th May 1841, on the ship 'Catherine Jamieson,' and arrived in Sydney on 22nd October 1841. Assisted passage - Cost 19 pounds for adults, 10 pounds for John and 5 pounds for Mary. Occupation - Stonemason.
On 15th July 1859, in Victoria, she married John Bishop White (1833-1917). [1]
They had 7 children:-
- Harriet Clementina (1861-1882).
- David Alexander Bruce (1862-1916)
- Mary Jane (1865-1902)
- John Joseph (1867-1941)
- Olivia Elizabeth White (1870-1954)
- Jessie Caroline (1873-1965)
- Alick Henry (1877-1965).
Mary passed away in 1880, aged 45. [2]
