John Bruce, Sr. contributed to the cause of American Independence by providing beef for the troops as per claim allowed by the Court of Halifax County, VA, 6 Sep 1783[1]

Place: Possibly Spotsylvania, Virginia where many of the Bruce family are recorded.

John Bruce snr is recorded in the U.S. and International Marriage Records, 1560-1900 as being born in Virginia 1742 and marrying Mary 1760. Mary's birth date is given as 1745.

In the will of John Bruce snr. dated 10 March 1816, also 28 Oct 1816 he mentions his children viz:

  • Rebekah wife of Jesse Samuel Monday
  • Winney wife of John Morefield, grandson Willis Morefield
  • Polly wife of Henry Wilkerson
  • Elizabeth wife of John Wood
  • Sally wife of Larkin Seamore
  • John Bruce jnr. married to Lucy Monday[2]

Bruce-716 and Bruce-278 appear to represent the same person because: They appear to represent the same person, although Bruce-278 does a much more thorough job of it. Bruce-278 mentions, in the Birth part of the biography, that he had a daughter named Sarah/Sally who was married to Larkin Seamore, and that's pretty much the giveaway to me that they're the same person.
