Tobias was born on 16 Feb 1855 in Kors, Grytten (today in Rauma), Møre og Romsdal, Norway, son of Sivert Tronsen and Gjertrud Olsdatter Brude.[1]

Tobias married Marit Pedersdatter Rønningen on 19 Mar 1877 in Kors, Grytten.[3] Their children were:

  3. Unknown son born in 6 Sep 1880 and died at unknown time.[6][7]

His family emigrated from Grytten 7 Apr 1879[8] They arrived in the United States in 1879.[9][10] Most of his children were born in the United States.

In 1885, Tobias Brude and his family were living in Rapidan, Blue Earth County, Minnesota, United States.[11] Mary's family (father, mother, and youngest sister), is listed immediately after Tobias's family. The Skov family, future in-laws and husband of Tobias's sister Gertrud are listed further down the page.

By 1895, Tobias Brude and family had moved to South Bend township in Blue Earth County, Minnesota, United States where he worked as a farmer.[12]

In 1900, Tobias was living in South Bend township..[9] He was still farming in South Bend township in 1905.[13] The three girls are listed as students, while John H is listed as a Farm Laborer.

In 1920, Tobias was still living in South Bend.[10] Anna is teaching at a country school, while the rest of the family is farming.

Tobias died on 27 Oct 1920 in South Bend, Blue Earth County, Minnesota, United States aged 65.[14][15][16][17] He was buried in Rapidan, Blue Earth County, Minnesota, USA. [17]
