Biography

Robert Brudenell was born posthumously on 25 April 1769 in the Parish of St George, Hanover Square, London, the son of the Hon. Robert Brudenell, and Anne Bisshopp. His father was son of George Brudenell, 3rd Earl of Cardigan, and brother to 4th and 5th Earls of Cardigan.^[1]

He married Penelope Anne Cooke, daughter of George John Cooke and Penelope Bowyer, on 8 March 1794 at St. George's Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England. He died on 14 August 1837 at age 77 at Portman Square, Marylebone, London, England. He was buried on 21 August 1837 at Deene, Northamptonshire, England. His will was proven (by probate) in September 1837. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Marlborough between 1797 and 1802. He succeeded to the title of 6th Earl of Cardigan [E., 1661] on 24 February 1811. He succeeded to the title of 6th Baron Brudenell of Stonton, co. Leicester [E., 1628] on 24 February 1811. He succeeded to the title of 6th Baronet Brudenell, of Deene, co. Northampton [E., 1611] on 24 February 1811.
