Although the spelling of his given name varies a tiny bit Comodore Perry Brumfield was named for an American military hero of the War of 1812 and Mexican-American War Commodore Matthew C. Perry,. According to his death certificate he was born 29 Sep 1851 in Wayne County, Virginia, the son of Allen Brumfield (born Wayne Co., WV) and Pollyann Ross (born Peach Orchard, KY), however that date would seem to be too close to the birth of his elder sister Lucinda. So perhaps the year should have been 1852 on the death certificate. Because of the discrepancy "about 1852" has been used on this profile for his birthdate. He died 30 May 1926, Wayne County, West Virginia. Other records show Comodore's mother was Nancy Adkins, daughter of Edward Adkins and Nancy Jane "Gincy" Bartram. Nancy Adkins' first husband was John H. Watts and her second husband was Allen T. Brumfield. Since Comodore's death certificate is the only time Pollyann Ross is mentioned as his mother and because census records indicate Allen T. Brumfield was only married once to Nancy (Adkins) Watts as well as the fact Comodore has four siblings older than him whose mother was Nancy the conclusion would seem to be the death certificate is a mistake.
C. P. Brumfield married first Polly Adkins (daughter of Sally Adkins) on 11 Mar 1875 in Wayne County, West Virginia., They are in the 1880 census for Wayne County, West Virginia with children Henry C 4 and Hamilton 3.
Comodore Brumfield (age 45) married second Geneva Smith (age 23) at the residence of Wiley Hail in Wayne County, West Virginia on 7 February 1897. The marriage was performed by the Rev. A.C. Hutchison.
He was a life-long farmer on a farm located at Ceredo, West Virginia. In 1900 the census shows he resided at Ceredo in Wayne County, West Virginia but his wife Geneva was not living in his household. Living with him in his home were children from his previous marriage (to Polly Adkins): Lilly 19, Paralee 17, Ada 12, Milton 11, Comadore Jr 7, Emma 10 and Anna 6. His wife Geneva Brumfield (age 26) was enumerated in Union District, Wayne County, West Virginia in 1900 with her parents Wm H and Martha E Smith as well as two of her children, Carrie Brumfield (age 2) and Burgess N. Brumfield (age1).
He was widowed and resided at Ceredo, Wayne County, West Virginia in 1910.\

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Comadore by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share DNA with Comadore:
