ARVEL C. BRUMFIELD, 90, of Huntington, W.Va., died Thursday, July 29, 2010, surrounded by his family. He was born June 30, 1920, in Wayne, W.Va., the son of the late Leroy and Millietta Brumfield. Hazel Brumfield, his wife of 59 years, preceded him in death in 1999. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Annette Brumfield of Kenova; one grandson, Craig Brumfield and his wife, Mandy, as well as their children, Colten, Chloe and Keelie; and one granddaughter, Tarabeth Brumfield; two brothers, Emmit and Estel Brumfield, and three sisters, Cora Lee Smith, Noraetta Adkins and Sylvia Gould; and a special niece, Donna Hayes and her family. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Maryland and Tim Brumfield. Visitation is at Rollins Funeral Home, Saturday, July 31, from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, at Spring Valley Church of Christ, at the intersection of Spring Valley Drive and Route 75. Services will be conducted by Elder Bob Hayes and assisted by Elder David Smith. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Barboursville. He was a pillar in Christ's Church and example to all who knew him. Mr. Brumfield will be taken to the church one hour before the service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rollinsfh.com.
