Martha was the daughter of Thomas and Susannah Brumfield, b. c.1725, in Berks Co. Pa. She was likely the oldest child. They moved to Virginia, and "became the grandparents of the many Ball descendants still living there".
Martha married William Ball in 1740-41 in Pennsylvania. They were both 15 years old according to U.S. and International Marriage Records.
