Biography

Martha's father was of Welsh descent, b. England c. 1700. He migrated to America around 1720-1725

Martha was the daughter of Thomas and Susannah Brumfield, b. c.1725, in Berks Co. Pa. She was likely the oldest child. They moved to Virginia, and "became the grandparents of the many Ball descendants still living there".[1]

Martha married William Ball in 1740-41 in Pennsylvania. They were both 15 years old according to U.S. and International Marriage Records.[2]

Martha Brumfield had siblings;

  1. Solomon m. Sarah Evans had daughter Susannah who m. Thomas Boone, c. Brumfield Boone b. 1791 in Bryant's Station, Kentucky.
  2. Joseph

  4. Margaret (possible but not in Thomas' Will)

William and Martha left Pennsylvania soon after the death of William's father, John Ball, and headed for Virginia. Their son, Thomas was born in Culpepper County, Virginia in 1742. Their children were:

  2. Sarah m. John Daniel d. Morristown Pa.
  3. Susannah m. Samuel Fisher?
  4. Mary unmarried in 1774

  6. Elizabeth b. 6 Sep 1756, m. Issac Supplee 13 May 1777, d. 2 Aug 1897
  7. Martha b. 1760 Faquier Co., Va; m. Moses Yocum 1791
  8. William b. 1762 Culpepper Co. Va, m. Mary Key; Faquier Co., Va.

Marth Brumfield Ball died after 1769. Her husband, William Ball d. 1785.
